Vuelta a España 2012, Stage 2 profile
There’s flat, and there’s flat, and as you can see, the Vuelta Stage 2 route, although classified as flat, undulates through Navarra and La Rioja for 180 kilometers. There is one 3rd-Category climb at about the halfway point, the Alto de la Chapela at Km 79.
Today’s route traces a portion of El Camino de Santiago, notably at Puente de la Reina (Km 97.8) – where the puente, the medieval stone bridge, was built especially for pilgrims – and from Los Arcos (Km 144) to the finish at Viana.
